financially they are buggered, and relegation could see them in serious troublehughsies no.1 wrote:Anyone looking at their situation and feeling little bit smug about it?
I know we were at fault for our relegation but with Pompey loosing at home to Fulham with a weakened team really fustrated me and to top that off they knicked the legend that is Glenn Little (and he currently aint getting a look in) and won the FA Cup which is a competition our club dont give a flying sh*t about which I wish we did.
now they lost harry, defoe, diarra, Adams, out of FA Cup, Uefa Cup, League Cup and potentially looking at relegation whilst we are looking like a good bet for promotion.
could just be me but was wondering if anyone else was feeling the same.

TBF, he took over again at Pompey when they looked relegation certainties, kept them up, won the cup, had them comfortably mid table, at which point he left and they have subsequently dropped like a stone.Smoking Kills Dancing Doe wrote:And still the media treat Redknapp as a God.
The best manager ever and spending money his clubs can't afford.

Can't see why his last Pompey spell wouldn't have improved his stock as a manager TBH.
Redknapp signed players with established pedigrees for decent money. Of course they did well.With large amounts of money available for the manager to make record signings, the club finished their 2006-2007 season in the Premier League in the top half of the table for the first time, only one point short of European qualification;
Sarcasm, right? Decent start, but he's been a bit patchy in the league since. Given the talent in Spurs' squad, you'd think he could do better?has gone on to work miracles at Spurs.

Agreed. And he wasn't spending money they couldn't afford. The chairman is as wealthy as you like, and was pouring it in. But suddenly he wants out, and is now, according to south today, unwilling to invest in the football club any more.Schards#2 wrote:TBF, he took over again at Pompey when they looked relegation certainties, kept them up, won the cup, had them comfortably mid table, at which point he left and they have subsequently dropped like a stone.Smoking Kills Dancing Doe wrote:And still the media treat Redknapp as a God.

Bear in mind that they're even stupider than Reading fans and the relegation of Southampton will always mean 'Arry holds a special place in their heartsSteveRoyal wrote: Pompey fans are gonna hate Harry forever...
Is he respopnsible for the players earnings then? Seeing as their wages/turnover is around 90%, surely the fault points to Peter Storrie the board and Gaydamak for not being realistic with their ambitions. 'Arry was smart enough to see what was happening, and jumped when it was clear that there'd be no more money. Only later was it announced that Gaydamak wanted out and wouldn't put anything else in - but @Arry knew it earlier.Huntley & Palmer wrote:Is he respopnsible for the players earnings then? 'greed, but, Adams had to take an opportunity like that! He couldn't follow 'arry to Spurs, and it was Adams' big chance.Dirk Gently wrote:'Arry was smart enough to see what was happening, and jumped when it was clear that there'd be no more money. Adams was stupid enough to pick up the basket case that was left.
Hasn't every club he's left gone almost immediately up shit creek? It's undeniable he can get results for a club, but it's also undeniable he's a mercenary bastard with a reputation (just or unjust) for doing dodgy deals to line his own pocket. It just shows the shortermism of football IMO that anyone gives him a job.Schards#2 wrote:TBF, he took over again at Pompey when they looked relegation certainties, kept them up, won the cup, had them comfortably mid table, at which point he left and they have subsequently dropped like a stone.Smoking Kills Dancing Doe wrote:And still the media treat Redknapp as a God.
