Was repeated this lunchtime, lovely way to spend a a lunch hour in the company of one of the best theme tunes ever, the great Brian Moore and some old football on a proper mudbath. Coppell mised a fairly easy chance at 2-1 actually to make the game safe and Liverpool scored shortly after.

Kids running on at the end to walk off with their footballing heroes without a policeman or steward in sight, great stuff.

Again Coppell has had two of his 'finest moments' according to him in the FA Cup,getting to win it at Wembley and also walking out as Palace manager on the big day,so why does he treat it with such distain now? Why are we subject to seeing reserve XI's in every cup game we play when in his own words it's the best moment of hsi career gettingto Wembley. There is always that outside chance that anyone can do well in the Cup given a bit of luck and some good draws, but its never Reading. And never will be with the current attitude towards it.

Digressing somewhat from what is a cracking show, love the old football highlights,similarly ESPN Classic is by far and away the best channell on Sky TV, always worth watching.

Because the status and money that comes the way of being a "Premiership player/manager/team" has overtaken the FA Cup as the ambition of people in football. Being a Division 1 footballer just didn't have the same kudos and reward. Its a oxf*rd shame but true nonetheless and once again I'd say it isn't just us its pretty much everyone else that puts the Premiership ahead in its list of priorities.

I can see your point but Coppell was a far better player than than Hunt is ever going to be.

I grew up in Manchester so saw Coppell play loads of times when i was a kid. It was the workrate thing more than the skill.

He was a terrific player had it not been for his injury he would have notched up 500+ games for United and at least 80 caps for England.
