said he owed it to locals to "give something back" after going to university there.
Can you really get into the football league from the League of Wales? Or are they in a different pyramid where there is a path of promotion to the football league???TBM wrote:Which is???Deathy wrote:The same thing stopping Celtic and Rangers. Celtic and Rangers would want to join the Premiership - Bangor will start in non-league...........thats the difference!
No you cant but if they moved over to a parallel league in the non-league pyramid they can work their way up that way. AFC Wimbledon are now in the conference, so started somewhere....Bangor could do the same thing if they wanted.Thaumagurist* wrote:Can you really get into the football league from the League of Wales? Why would he feel the need to do that? As a foreigner I presume he payed for his tuition plus I doubt if any of the lecturers were from the Bangor area. That's a rubbish reason.TBM wrote:said he owed it to locals to "give something back" after going to university there.
Perhaps he liked the area and the people-not so hard to believe is it?Royal With Cheese wrote:Why would he feel the need to do that? Easy come, easy go!Gretna Football Club were a Scottish football club that represented the town of Gretna, Dumfries and Galloway. Founded in 1946, the club dissolved in 2008 after coming into severe financial difficulties.
Due to the financial support of businessman Brooks Mileson, the club were promoted through the Scottish leagues from the Third Division side to the Scottish Premier League in less than five years.
The club struggled badly in the SPL and were placed in administration after Mileson withdrew his support due to illness. At the end of the season, all of the club's staff were made redundant and the club were initially relegated to the Third Division due to their inability to guarantee fulfilment of their forthcoming fixtures. After this demotion, the one remaining offer to buy the club was withdrawn. The club resigned their place in the Scottish Football League on 3 June and were formally liquidated on 8 August.
