Booking online with a solo debit card

Just tried to book tickets for the Reading v Chelski match this saturday. Went to try and pay and despite the 'solo' insignia being shown, payment was declined after entering my card details. There was no provision for solo in the drop down menu although I know in the past sometimes you have to select switch/maestro as they are all alike but alas not this time. Has anybody succeeded in booking online with a solo debit card recently ?

ironically they accept it over the phone

It does work but sometimes you have to do it 3 or 4 times.

I booked them over the telephone but might bear that in mind. I could use my mastercard but its a prepaid one and its a pain transferring money to it.
