The Madejski Stadium will host a celebrity charity football match on 12th November to support Help For Heroes, a charity for the UK's wounded servicemen and women

Tickets for the game are priced just £10 adults and £5 children, and they are available now from the Madejski Stadium ticket office, either in person or by telephoning 0844 249 1871 or in the online ticketing services

The game will see an England team take on a Rest Of The World XI, and both squads will consist of footballers, sportsmen and stars from TV, stage and the music world

A whole host of top class names will be confirmed in the near future, and the game is being shown live on ITV so there is national interest. The first names revealed for the England squad include ex-Reading man Les Ferdinand as well as Chris Waddle, Des Walker, Peter Beardsley and Mark Wright.

In addition Alec Stewart, Simon Webbe and Nigel Benn will help boost a cast of national heroes, stars and champions. Lining up alongside the stars will be current servicemen from the Army, Navy and RAF who have been selected to play for their country as representatives of the armed forces.

The Rest Of The World team is a closely-guarded list however players like Lothar Matthaus, Ian Rush, Thomas Brolin, Franco Baresi, Toto Schillachi and Gary McAllister are expected to line up, with Boris Becker, Eddie Irvine, Rod Stewart and a host of other top stars also in the mix

The game is organised by Toast Events, who were responsible for the England vs Germany Legends game at Madejski Stadium in 2006, attracting a crowd of 21,000. In addition they recently staged the Sir Bobby Robson Trophy at Newcastle's St James Park. That game featured the likes of Alan Shearer, Paul Gascoigne, John Barnes and David Platt against Lothar Matthaus and company

Nigel Benn, I served at the same time in the same place as him....watched one of his exhibition bouts in Co. Londonderry...he pasted his poor army chef opponent.



Just hope that Reading PLC use some common sense with the car-parking fees etc etc (and turn on all of the sound system this time)

I would be a lot more impressed if the club chose a league game and donated all proceedings to Help for Heroes. No doubt the club will find all sorts of ways to rip off the casual punter.

It's not being organised by the club though. It's an outside organisation that have hired the stadium.

I doubt we give it to them free. That would be plain stupid.

There will be a fee, it would be pretty naive to think we'd just ask costs, let alone give it for free.

it might be a reduced charity rate. But Charities still have to pay for the services they use and the staff they employ.
