I stood with Fulham fans in the neutral end at Craven Cottage twice and, guess what? We all managed to watch the game without kicking the shit out of each other.

I'm of the opinion that segregation actually creates conflict between fans in many instances.

I agree. I went to a local derby in Germany between Bayern Munchen and 1. FC Nurnberg where the fans sat separately but shared the same concourse. There were no problems and the atmosphere was much better than it is in England. Also, I only heard one chant from the Nurnberg fans aimed at the Bayern fans, the rest of the game they supported their team. After all why would you spend 90 minutes calling someone a oxf*rd or making gestures at them when you knew they could meet you in the concourse. It's easy to act hard when you know there's segregation stopping you from getting your head kicked in.

Yes, I acted all hard at maine rd once, giving all the gestures to some city fan from my safe segregated away end. I bumped into the same guy outside the ground, who nudged me in the back and said ‘not so fcking gobby now, are ya?’ Suffice to say I soiled myself and didn’t turn around again til I reached the car.

Seriously, I think this is a cracking initiative. Segregation just creates a bad atmosphere at most games. On the few occasions you do get a bit of trouble, it probably wouldn’t have happened if everyone sat together. You can go to a non league game with no segregation and a pint in your hand with no bother. I don’t see why this shouldn’t be extended to all seater grounds.

Probably because the years of fans being segregated has caused uneeded aggro between the two sets of fans. If segregation - was there problems between both sets of fans prior to segregation being introduced?
