Will we ever see a female manager?

With the womens game getting more and more attention i feel it wont be long before we see our first female manager in England.....

Does anyone else reckon it'll happen or will the old fashioned people "upstairs" put a block on it?!

Don't know about a manager, I'm sure some desparate conference club will do it one day for a bit of publicity and 15 minutes of fame.

I can't even stand Jacquie Oatley's commentary on MOTD, that is bad enough, I just go off and get another beer when a game she commentates comes on.

The level of football in womens' football isn't anywhere near the standards of mens' football, is it? So I'm rather doubtful a woman from that environment would be able to hack it at the mens standard. Maybe in non-league football.

Not ALL managers have played football before they were a manager - its all about their coaching badges at first, then experience at managing, then working their way up the leagues. I dont see why a woman cant do this

I can't think of her name, but it wouldn't surprise me if the England women's team manager got a job as a coach or assistant manager in the lower leagues, in the near future.

More to the issue is that the FA has a stance against mixed sex in football, would this prevent a female manager?

Jacqui Oatley on MOTD is horrific. I could give football commentary with my balls being grated at the same time, and my voice still wouldn't have that horrendous screech to it.

So do male managers, regardless of background, automatically get respect then? More so than someone, albeit female, who was played the sport at the highest level? Says more about the stupidity of men if that's the case. If you are told you're getting a female manager at work do you automatically decide to disrespect her? And how does the fact that you don't like a particular commentator impact on whether or not someone entirely different would make a good football manager?

I didn't say "They wouldn't deserve respect", I said "They wouldn't get respect." I think some females would be very qualified to manage a football team just as they can manage all sorts of other organisations. However, I can't see them being widely accepted in the foreseeable future and I'd say that's pretty hard to argue against.

As for Jacqui Oatley, she already had a mention on this thread and I thought I'd weigh in. Gabby Logan does a decent job - that's because her voice doesn't begin to sound like screams from a baby being nailed to a wall at the slightest hint of excitement.

I can see what rh is saying tho Glo - men, especially in football, seem to think women dont know anything about the game so will find it hard being told what to do by one.
