Mexico v Uruguay & South Africa v ?? [Official Thread]

by Barry the bird boggler » 22 Jun 2010 08:20

OK, first set of last group games start today. Will the French turn up? Will Uruguay and Mexico produce the draw they require to see each other through.

Personally I think it would be hilarious if South Africa beat France (or were awarded the game) and qualified after Uruguay or Mexico lose.

150/1.

I'm on for a tenner. Unlikely, but that is overpriced.

If S Africa win and Mexico lose they will still have to turn around a 5 goal swing in goal diff. 2-0 SA and 2-0 Urug and Mex still go through.

Having said that, a win for Mexico means they likely dodge Argentina so that game might open up in the 2nd half.

See if you can find a saver bet along the lines of, no more than 2 Uruguayan players in the Mexican half at any one time, and vice versa.

IN! for the most cynical of cynical draws.

I wonder if Uruguay will just start with 10 men, to save time.

Had a pre-tournament one-er on Uruguay to qualify, and eighty on South Africa finishing bottom, so draws all-round please!

What chain of events do France need to go through, i.e. a goal swing of....?

Four I believe, and five for South Africa to qualify.

EDIT: That's not strictly true as it depends who wins in the other game, as Uruguay have a better goal difference having not conceded.

And 180s to lay on betfair - that's an arb, but the odds are too high to be worth doing.

5/6 on betfair

HT/FT draw/draw at 13/8 looks to be the best way.

damn, I took my 150/1 from Paddy Power. For some reason, Ladbrokes is banned at work and Paddy Power seems to work.

Probably academic.

The barest minimum for France is to win 1-0 and then Mexico must lose by 4 or Uruguay must lose by 5.

Either that or France win by at least 4 clear goals and then Mexico simply lose.

URU v MEX draw, anyone?
