Wycombe have put a bit of effort into hosting the away fans with foods stalls and a beer tent (same as last time except it wasn't raining) and a generally pleasant prematch area.
We seemed to dominate the game and then leak a goal with their only attack, then it was all Reading again. A cracking header then another Wing shot we were deservedly ahead at HT.
Decent atmosphere in the away end, esp with the new song for Kyerewaa
It seemed inevitable we'd leak a goal and it feels like 2 pts dropped, but after Bolton maybe I take that.

We looked really comfortable until about 70 minutes and then hunt tried to act as an established manager. Brought off Ahmad who was our best defender and the wingers, brought on Garcia who did zero tracking back. If that was hunts intention then that's on him but Garcia looked like he wanted to be anywhere else and Jacob then got doubled up on. How when you're 2-1 up with two minutes left you can leave a player free in the box six yards out. Where was our midfield helping the defence, we should have stuck ten men behind the ball and instead it was a four on four. We had three players trying and failing to stop a cross and left no one to defend.
Hunt cost us with those substitutions and managed to turn what looked a comfortable win against a struggling side to a challenge just to get a draw. It was simply like for like changes with no consideration of tactics. Also why did we come out for the second half fives minutes early? Bizarre as we were winning 2-1.

Pereira - 7 Couple of decent saves.
Ahmed - 6 Ok game, looks better than Abrefa going forward, think Abrefa is still first choice. Yids will not be needed this season.
Burns - 6 Potential is there, but seems to have a telling mistake every game. 3rd choice for me.
Williams - 8 Will be class signing for us. If he and O'Connor can click this should be a great pairing.
Jacob - 7 Came in for some stick for the first few games but i think he will be a good signing. Way better than Dorsett.
Wing - 8 That's the Wing we know and love. With Elliot in the middle he can play the QB role perfectly.
Savage - 6 Much better, but still a way to go before he reaches last seasons form.
Elliot - 9 Class, new contract please!! made things tick and so clever on the ball. Its funny that Noel couldn't see this earlier!
Kyerewaa - 6 Prefer him on the left wing. Steady and has that quality to scare defenses.
Camara - 7 One of his better performances, stunning header for the goal. Hopefully he can kick on from here.
MOM - 6 Much better today, on another day he could have had a hattrick. I think Elliot was a big part in his better showing.
Subs - 5 All of them. Were probably needed but really didn't change the game.

Sometimes subs work and reinvigorate the side (Bolton). Sometimes the same changes have the opposite effect. But as someone said he prob had to make them as players were tiring on a warm day after a long midweek trip

Always felt that at 2-1 we needed a third goal to see the game out, thought Wing had it with a long range effort and MoM unlucky to hit the bar.
I thought the subs were generally fine by Hunt but they didn’t match the energy levels of the players they replaced and our intensity dropped as a result.
Still need another option up front. I thought MoM looked OK today but is very raw and clearly lacking confidence. He needs to be coming on as a sub to get experience not starting every match.
Don’t like to talk about must-win games but the Vale game certainly feels like one.

In the 5-10 minutes before the first set Ahmed was beaten with ease at least twice. Wycombe were growing in dominance, and the front press was dropping off significantly with the forwards tiring.
Abrefa's been our best player so far this season, and has been defensively more solid than Ahmed (who has been better going forward).
Fraser is the obvious sub to see out the game. Bit of a surprise he came on for Savage, but we've seen a Wing, Savage, Fraser midfield lacks balance. Plus Fraser almost won the game back for us in the last minute. Doyle was a like for like replacement of Elliott, who had put a real shift in.
It's not like there were other better options on the bench. And making subs to eat up time and see out the game is standard practice. People wouldbe rightly raging if Hunt hadn't made the subs and we'd conceded because everyone was tired.
Sometimes, you do everything right, and it doesn't work.

More winnable games coming up. A couple of wins and some attacking reinforcements and we'll suddenly be looking up.

Been very impressed with Williams at CB. Very vocal and very much the experienced head we needed. MoM I thought had his best game for us and was unlucky not to score with the header.
Only Rotherham rank worst than us this season on xG and it has to be a concern we are not creating or converting enough good chances. Can't keep relying on Wing to nail a screamer every week. Thankfully Lane is fit again and all being well should play the 90 on Tuesday night.
What was with the steward in the away end and the guy in the wheelchair near the end all about?!?

Tiredness doesn't just affect the physical performance but also has an effect on e.g. concentration. It's why you do drills for certain routines, so that tiredness doesn't affect your performance in routine tasks as much.
It's also one of the hardest things to track from the sidelines.
"You tired?", "no boss, good to go, boss". Excellent.
Subs are always going to be a gamble, especially given the nature of our squad. I fully expect them to get better as the season goes on.
