Reading have completed their fourth summer signing with the arrival of attacking midfielder Josh Stokes. Stokes arrives on a season long loan from parent club Bristol City. He is just 22 years old and impressed at Stockport last season in League One where he became a first choice player after signing on loan in January, and scored four league goals.
His arrival at Reading is his fourth spell out on loan after joining Bristol City from Aldershot in January 2024. He was immediately loaned back to Aldershot and then went to Cambridge United where he scored 7 times in 32 league appearances.
Stokes left Aldershot before new Reading assistant manager John Coleman was appointed as first team manager for the Shots.

Decent signing. Proven at this level (7 goals for Cambridge in their 2024/25 relegation season and 4 in 20 for Stockport last season) and fills a need at CAM. Looks to have been a regular starter for Stockport in the second half of last season.

2 apps for City inn2 seasons in the league cup only. Will be an undisclosed fee as contracted at City until 2027 (unless another loan). Joined City from Aldersh*t so knows the area though born in Suffolk. Rather have Doris.

Sounds like a perm not a loan.
