Reading have completed the signing of German side Hoffenheim's midfielder Danny Williams. German born Williams featured for the German under 15 team before getting a call up to the American senior side, as his father is American, where he has already picked up 12 appearances. The twenty-four year old player signs on a four year contract to keep him at Reading until the summer of 2017. The transfer fee is officially undisclosed but is believed to be in the region of two million pounds.

Williams has played for both Freiburg and Hoffenheim in Germany's Bundesliga. He had three successful seasons at Freiburg before signing for Hoffenhiem, and has collected 119 league appearances, scoring four goals. Last season Williams made 21 appearances for Hoffenhiem. However, he does have something for yellow cards, picking up 8 last season including six in consecutive games. He comes to Reading with impressive reviews and disappointment from Hoffenheim fans that he is leaving to come to England.

Williams is another quality signing to add to an impressive ever expanding list of summer signings. With Drenthe and Bridge's arrivals already confirmed, Williams adds more depth to an already very strong Championship squad. It's hard not to think that Reading's squad is much improved despite dropping down a division. The Royals look far better placed for the new season than two years ago - when Reading went on to win the Championship. With Reading already installed as one of the promotion favourites for the new season, there is huge expectation growing at the club.
