Another Draw As Reading Let Lead Slip

Reading, once again, failed to take advantage after taking the lead as the hunt for the ever elusive League win continues. The Royals were forced to settle for a point in the battle of two teams now hot favourites for relegation. It was a bad weekend for the Royals as other results see Reading already four points away from safety at this early stage in the season.

Reading and QPR are the only teams in the Football League without a league win and the eventual 1-1 draw seemed a fair result. There seems no end to the wait for three points and all the time you can't help but think the bottom three might remain unchanged as the season progresses. It wasn't all bad though as Reading shaded the first half despite playing 120 minutes midweek in the freak 5-7 defeat to Arsenal.

The Royals started brightly and created the first chances of the game. Reading took the lead after 16 minutes when Gorkss hooked the ball into the back of the net against his former side. Shorey, was the initial supplier with a corner from the left. Morrison headed the ball onto the crossbar and the ball fell for Gorkss to score through a crowd of players.

The home side offered little until just before the break - perhaps reminiscent of the midweek cup game when Reading's collapse began. Reading fans are getting used to seeing a lead evaporate as the game goes on and today was no exception as QPR looked the more likely after the break. The equaliser came on 66 minutes with a close range effort and Reading then had McCarthy to thank in the Reading goal for keeping the scores level. Another point gained will be McDermott's take on the latest game to pass without victory.
